Lindbergh Community,
As you may already know, Tuesday, March 10th is the Michigan Primary Election that will take place at Lindbergh and other schools. We are aware of some of the anxiety and hesitation you as a parent may be feeling but want to assure you that as a district we have formulated a solid plan for the safety/security of our students and staff. We also want to remind everyone that this is not the first time our building has been opened during a Primary Election. At the end of the day today, I will also be meeting with staff to ensure the plan is executed with fidelity. Below you will find some of the procedures we will have in place. But please understand that there are other precautionary measures that we have in place that are not listed.
- Voting occurs in the gym therefore, the main door will be the only entrance and exit into the building for voters. Volunteers will be stationed in the hallway leading to the gym to help guide visitors straight into and out of the gym. Signs will be posted that there are no public restrooms or side exits allowed.
- The Dearborn Police will be visible during the day.
- All Staff members will be visible and actively monitoring during arrival and dismissal both inside and outside the building.
- All classroom doors will be locked and students will be given specific guidelines for using the restrooms.
- PE classes this day will occur in your child’s classroom instead of the gym.
- We have parent volunteers for our picture day that their sole responsibility will be to walk students to and from the media center for photos.
- During recess, teachers have been informed to be actively supervising students.
- Each staff member will have a radio to use if needed.
It is imperative that your child is reminded of safety expectations and the importance of following them. Please spend some time discussing it with your child tonight. We are confident in our ability together to continue to provide a safe and secure environment for our students.
If you have any further questions/concerns, please let me know.
Have a wonderful day, see you all tomorrow!
Ms. Tiba
