Help us PICK A NAME for the Dearborn Police Department’s new K9!
We’ve been talking about this exciting opportunity since January and now’s your chance to help the Dearborn Police name our new therapy and emotional support K9 Goldendoodle, who is also the first in Dearborn Police history to have the rank of Major!
Chief Issa Shahin joined Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud as they visited local schools around the city to introduce Major and ask for suggestions. Each of the six schools submitted a name, and we received suggestions through social media too.

Major and his handler, Cpl. MyLinda Laws, have a big job in helping members of the public who come in with a traumatic experience. While he is still in training, Major has also been assisting officers who may have had a hard shift or who might just need a friendly paw.
